Les "Joe" and Betty McCARTY of Pittsburg in Van Buren County are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple together has six sons and one daughter: Ronnie of Bloomfield, Mo.; Billie, Carl, Don and Leslie Jr., all of Fairfield; and Brenda of Circle, Mont. The couple also has 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Les McCARTY worked for Rockwell International in Fairfield, where he retired in 1998 after 30 years of service. He now enjoys fishing, hunting and gardening.
Betty McCARTY has retired from several occupations; however, she is currently working as a certified nurses aide at the Jefferson County Health Center. In her spare time, she likes to shop for antique salt- and pepper-shakers and sew.
Together, they enjoy trips to the casino.
To celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, the couple recently took a seven-day cruise from Galveston, Texas, visiting ports of Cayman Islands, Cozumel and Jamaica.
