Notes on the GORSUCH Family in "Jefferson County Records", Vol. 2

1 - Anne LOVELACE GORSUCH, b. abt. 1611, widow of Rev. John GORSUCH who was instituted as Rector of Walkhern, Hertfordshire (sic - England), July 28, 1632 and was ejected therefrom, owing to his Royalist proclivities in 1642, came to america ca May 1650 with 7 of their children: Robert, Richard, Anne, Elizabeth, Charles, Lovelace and Katherine. She "received a grant of land 850 acres in Lancaster Co., Virginia on 22 Feb. 1652. She died before 2 June 1652. (Adventures of Purse and Person, 1607-1625, Editors Jester and Hiden, 1956; Va. 2 - Charles GORSUCH, bapt. at Walkern, Hertfordshire, England, Aug. 25, 1642; d. 27 June 1716 in Baltimore Co., Md.; m. 13 Mar. 1677 Sarah COLE heiress of Thomas and Priscilla COLE of Baltimore Co., Md., who was b. abt. 1645 and died 1689-90. (Stansbury Genealogy 1658-1938 pp.74-75; Americana Vol. 37, pp. 184-186)

3 - Thomas GORSUCH b. Baltimore Co., Md. abt. 1680; d. Nov. 4, 1774; m. 19 Aug. 1714 Jane ENSOR, b. 1690 dau. of John and Elizabh (sic) ENSOR of Baltimore Co., Md. (Americana Vol. 37 pp. 184-186; Gorsuch Family in Va. 5 - Nathan GORSUCH b. 1769; d. 15 June 1844 m. 1st Rachel KELLEY in 1788 (Named in his father's Will).

6 - Ruth GORSUCH, b. 1789 in Huntingdon Co., Pa. died 1812; m. Richard CHILCOTT. They came to Jefferson Co., Iowa where they died.

Nathan GORSUCH after the death of Rachel m. her sister Temperance KELLEY on 29 Dec. 1791. Among their children was:
