Page 4, Column 1SALINA .... We are very sorry to learn that Mrs. Amon GARRETT is quite ill at her home in Monroe. Mr. and Mrs. GARRETT moved to Monroe from this place about 25 years ago. Mrs. Marion CROY is her sister, also Mrs. ALLENDER, formerly Mrs. GREEN of Fairfield. Mrs. GARRETT's name before her marriage was Miss Salina (Celina) PARKS (sic - PARK), and Eber Ogden tells us that our little town was named for Miss PARK.
*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.
Note: 'Mrs. Marion CROY' would be Barbara Jane PARK CROY, wife of Francis Marion CROY. 'Mrs. ALLENDER' would be Margaret PARK FOOTE GREEN ALLENDER, wife of Thomas ALLENDER.
