Surprise card shower set for RATHBUN's 80th birthday.

The family of Dorothy RATHBUN of Fairfield invites her friends to participate in a surprise card shower wishing her a happy 80th birthday on Friday.

Cards can be sent to her at 300 S. Maple St., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. RATHBUN and her husband Bill, both natives of Kansas, began residing in Fairfield in 1970, moving here from Dubuque, where they had lived for several years prior. On moving here, she was employed by the Fairfield school district as a secretary to curriculum director Lillian Thada.

The couple moved to Des Moines in December 1979 when she became an administrative secretary for the Iowa State Educational Association. They returned to Fairfield to retire 12 years later in February 1992.

Mrs. RATHBUN is actively involved in quilting and the Sac and Fox Lapidary Club. She has shared her quilting talents with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and, by making quilts for the First Baptist Church's ministry, with those who experience home fire tragedies.

The couple's children are Candi TIBBALS of Powell, Ohio, John RATHBUN of Fairfield and Becky KRAUSE of Winnebago, Minn.
