HOWARDs to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

The children of Rollin Jay HOWARD Jr. and Jean Lavon HOWARD of Fairfield announce the couple's 50th wedding anniversary today.

The couple met in Victorville, Calif., near George Air Force Base, where Mr. HOWARD was stationed in 1958. They married in 1961 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Their three children are Rollin HOWARD III and wife Theresa of Dallas, Texas, Kim GUFFEY and husband Tom of Fairfield, and Cory HOWARD of Fairfield. They have five grandchildren.

Mr. HOWARD grew up in Fairfield and attended Fairfield High School. He enlisted and served for the U.S. Air Force as a military policeman and a loadmaster from 1955-1975. His service destinations included Alaska, Germany, Vietnam, Northern California and Washington. Mr. HOWARD retired as a master sergeant and since 1975 has farmed locally.

Mrs. HOWARD grew up near Fort Wayne, Ind., and moved to California in 1958. She became part owner in a small bar and grill. After marrying, military life allowed them to travel to Germany, back to California and then to Washington. Mrs. HOWARD worked primarily as a homemaker and developed great skill as a cook. She worked for years at Family Cafe, Sale Barn and other local businesses.
