GORMAN turning 101

Marie GORMAN of Fairfield will celebrate her 101st birthday Friday.

Mrs. GORMAN was born March 25, 1910, west of Batavia in Wapello County to Jesse and Nellie LOY. She married Charley GORMAN on her birthday in 1929. They lived near her parents on a farm in Jefferson County until retirement. The couple was married 67 years until his passing in 1996.

Mrs. GORMAN has three children, Loy GORMAN and wife Helen of Montrose, Co., Ruth LEAZER and husband Newell, deceased, of Fairfield, and LuAnn DAVIS and husband Jerry of Fairfield. She has nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
