HOMES OF FAIRFIELD

.... GILBERT Estate. 50 and 52 E. Washington. Built along about Civil War times. David LOCKE conducted a wagon repair shop and blacksmithing in connection with it. After Mr. LOCKE's passing William GILBERT took the property and for many years had a feed barn and rented much storage room for vehicles and latterly installed several garages for rental. The year of his death he put up a new building at No. 50 which has ever since been used for machinery salesmen in front and the rear for garage repair purposes.
