DESTROYED BY FIRE. Sunday evening about 7 o'clock Peter HOAGLIN, who lives on the Glasgow road about a mile southeast of this city, discovered that his house was on fire. With the means at his command he extinguished the flames on the roof, and went into the house again, thinking everything safe. In a few minutes, however, the fire broke out again, coming from the garret, and it was but a short time until the building was wholly destroyed. The flames burned so fiercely that but little of the household goods or furniture was saved. The house was a story and a half frame structure of four or five rooms, and was worth probably $600. Mr. HOAGLIN carried no insurance. He is a man quite advanced in years, and the fire leaves him almost penniless. The burning house made quite a bright light and was seen for many miles around. A good many people from town went to the scene of the fire, but none arrived in time to do anything toward saving the building or its contents.
