EVERGREEN CEMETERY WILL BE ENLARGED

E. D. KINGSBURY succeeds W. C. HOSWELL as caretaker of the grounds

The Evergreen cemetery will be enlarged, it was stated this morning in a report issued by officers of the Evergreen cemetery association. A preliminary survey has been made for the purpose of grading, platting, and laying out into lots and drives, the remaining five acres directly east of the occupied grounds.

The actual work in this enlargement program may get underway this fall, officers stated.

E. D. KINGSBURY, 606 South Second street, was elected by the board as Superintendent of the grounds, and is now caretaker of the Evergreen cemetery. He replaces W. C. HOSWELL.

It was with great regret the cemetery board was informed that Mr. HOSWELL, because of his physical condition felt he could no longer continue in the position as superintendent of grounds, and his resignation was accepted.

One of the Board members stated, "Every member of the Association, and every citizen in our community should and does appreciate the unceasing efforts put forth by Mr. HOSWELL throughout his many years as caretaker, to make and keep the place, where now rest those of us who have gone on before, a place of beauty, simplicity and dignity.

C. W. WADE, Dr. Chester FORDYCE and Ray MAXWELL were re-elected as directors of the Fairfield Evergreen Cemetery Association, for a period of two years, at the annual meeting of that organization held April 6. Other members of the board are J. W. DOLE and A. G. JORDAN.

The board organized by the selection of C. W. WADE as president of the Association, A. G. JORDAN, secretary, and W. P. STARR, treasurer.
