Jefferson County Records, Vol. 8, Page 189

Letter from Mrs. Ward Reineke, Oakland, Iowa, dated 23 Oct. 1964. "A Mariam Jones told Mary Lloyd .... in 1936-7, that David Jones and a man named HIBBS were at McMartin's Mill on the Skunk river. Wouldn't wait for the ferry but tried to cross the dam and were drowned. Said David's body was found May 23 but the HIBBS body not found for 30 days...."
