BURGER Reunion

The descendants of George and Margaret SINN BURGER gathered for the 91st annual BURGER reunion Sunday at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

George and Margaret "Maggie" BURGER were married in 1884 in Walnut Township in Jefferson County and farmed in the Germanville area. They raised five children: Katherine "Katie" DIERS, Anna CRILE, John BURGER, Jacob BURGER and Ila ESHELMAN.

The reunion date of the third Sunday in July is to commemorate Maggie BURGER's July 17 birthday, the occasion celebrated at the first reunion in 1918.

Reunion chairpersons David KESSEL and Ann KESSEL SIRDOREUS welcomed those attending, followed by a potluck meal. Numerous family members shared photos, genealogy and family memorabilia.

Those attending from out of town were Russell and Ina RICH and Lois WATSON of Wayland; Kathleen KLOPFENSTEIN of Mount Pleasant; Deborah and Shyann SIRDOREUS of Batavia; Heather, Ashley, Hollie and Jack NELSON of Lockridge; Jennie RUSSELL of North Liberty; and Terry, Lauri, Shaylie and Kennedy CURRY of Beacon.

Attending from Fairfield were Alice KESSEL; Anna Mae BURGER; Wayne and Loretta DIERS; Gene and Louise LUEDTKE; David and Charlotte KESSEL; Ann and Jerry SIRDOREUS; Robert and Sarah KESSEL; Colleen and Randy BATES; Betty RUSSELL; Lynn and Mary GARRETSON; Charlie KESSEL; and Johnquil KESSEL.
