NATIVE IOWAN TO BE 90 ON MONDAY. January 6th will mark the beginning of a new adventure for Nellie Ann KIRKPATRICK of 51 S. Fourth St.. On that day Miss KIRKPATRICK will be 90. She was born Jan. 6, 1874, on a farm three miles east of Fairfield, daughter of Henry H. and Sarah Jane GAINES KIRKPATRICK. She has lived in Jefferson County all her life with the exception of five years when she lived with her brother, Dr. John E. KIRKPATRICK, at Battle Creek, Mich..
After attending school in Fairfield and two years at Parsons College, Miss KIRKPATRICK worked as bookkeeper at the Telephone Company for about 10 years, and at First National Bank for 15 years and at Thorne's Department Store.
The local woman is a member of the Presbyterian Church and is a charter member of Westminster Bible Class. She has been a member of Fairfield Chapter No. 39, Order of Eastern Star, for over 60 years, and served as Worthy Matron in 1910....
No special celebration is planned for Monday. A family dinner was held Sunday when Mrs. Charles CAMPBELL of Sheboygan, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. R. C. EMERY of Des Moines, and Mrs. Harry E. SMITH of 51½ E. Broadway gathered for the celebration. Mrs. CAMPBELL and Mrs. EMERY are nieces; and Mrs. SMITH is a cousin.
