JOHN NOBLE, a pioneer of Jefferson County of 1845, born in Blair County, Pa., 17 Feb. 1796, on a farm which had come into the possession of the family prior to the Revolutionary War. Married, in Penn., about 1818, Miss Elizabeth CRANE, native of Pleasant Valley, Blair County, Pa., born in 1797... Nine sons and one daughter, and all the sons are living except one who was accidentally killed, the eldest being 70 years of age, the youngest 50.

Samuel, the eldest, was twice married. Lost his first wife in Penn., after which he came to Iowa in 1846, married a Miss SHEPLER and now resides in Albia; Abraham C., aged 69, has been twice married and is living in Fairfield Township; Martha B. MADDEN was the name of his second wife; John S., age 66, lives in Arkansas, married first Eliza J. BECK, second, Mary NORDICK; Christian E., age 65; William W. married Emma HEDRICK and was accidentally killed in a mine in 1860 at the age of 34; Benjamin F., twin brother of William, married Miss DUNN and lives in Montgomery Co., Iowa, age 64; George W., age 62, resides in Arkansas; David J., age 60, married Miss ARNOLD and lives in Albia, Iowa; Margaret J., age 57, widow of Jacob ASH, living Dallas, Ill.; Edward M., age 50, is married and lives in Albia. The tallest of the nine brothers was six feet, and the shortest five feet and ten inches.... Mr. NOBLE was an industrious and worthy man...... Farmer.
