Jerry DEARDURFF, 87th birthday Friday...

He was born in Dayton, Ohio, December 9 1851, son of Eli G. & Martha Jane GRANTZ DEARDURFF, came to Iowa in April 1852, coming down the Ohio river to Keokuk, leaving there by hack to Fairfield.

"The hack was small that my father decided to make the trip afoot, which he did, arriving here two days before the hack made the trip."
