Town Flags at Half Mast for Ex-Mayor

In honor of former Mayor Clyde POTTS, the Municipal Building will be officially closed on Monday, the day of his funeral, and all Town flags will be flown at half mast for a period of a week, Mayor Edward K. Mills, Jr., officially announced today.

Mayor Mills, who defeated Mr. POTTS in the Republican primaries of 1948, today paid public tribute to his predecessor in office as he said: The people of Morristown are profoundly shocked and deeply grieved at the death of former Mayor Clyde POTTS".

"For 24 years Clyde POTTS served ably and devotedly as Mayor of Morristown, and both as an individual and a public official he was highly respected and beloved. His death brings genuine sadness to all the citizens of Morristown who recognize that few, if any, citizens ever loved their Town more, or served it better, than did he."

"In his memory and honor the Municipal Building will be officially closed on Monday, May 22, the day of his funeral, and all Town flags will be flown at half mast for a period of one week."
