Return to Round Prairie for 100th Anniversary

Sunday, September 21, 1952, was a red-letter day for the Round Prairie Baptist church in that it was celebrating the 100th anniversary of the church as well as its annual home coming day, which was the 32nd year of that event.

With ideal weather, the church was filled for the morning service. The regular Sunday school was dispensed with and the morning worship was opened by the pastor, Rev. Robert Erlandson and short messages were brought by former pastors, Rev. Harold Welch of Agency and Rev. E.C. Vanderpool of LaClede, Mo., Dale Barton of Springfield, Mo. also spoke. Mrs. Roy Billingsley sang a solo, also Janice Heckenberg and a male quartette from Lockridge, who were Rev. Erlandson, Clarence Mickey, Raymond Swanson and Emery Crane, accompanied by Mrs. Marshall Sharpe.

200 At Dinner

Two hundred partook of the bountiful dinner, served cafeteria style, in the church basement.

The afternoon service opened with congregational singing, followed by two accordian solos by Marlene McWilliams, the welcome by Rev. Erlandson and a solo by Winifred Harvey. Reminiscing of the first homecoming was by Tom Howell and Mrs. C.O. Elliott.

The Lockridge male quartette again rendered two numbers after which Rev. E.C. Vanderpool made the address. Mrs. Mary Thomson and Mrs. Jay Barton gave a duet, "The Lights of Home" with Mrs. Glenn Hummell as accompanist.
