William H. Canaday, age 18, residence Jefferson County, nativity Iowa, enlisted in Co. I, 45th Iowa Infantry Regiment, May 2, 1864; mustered out September 16, 1864 at Keokuk, Iowa. Spielman's list shows he died in Ottumwa of stomach trouble October 1907 and buried there.
