WILLIAM GIFT. (Co. G, 30 IVI in Civil War), born Washington Co., Tenn. Apr 9 1828, son of Adam Gift. His grandfather, also Adam Gift, was a native of Germany and came to this country at an early period. Adam Gift, William’s father, was born in Penn. 1795; married Sarah Smith, born Maryland; her father was a Revolutionary soldier and lived to reach the advanced age of 96 years. Wm. Gift was two years of age when his parents moved from Tennessee to Maryland; when he was eight they moved to Pennsylvania. At age 22 to Jefferson County, Iowa; married Catherine Walmer.....children.
