DEATH OF MRS. BRICEN MICKEY.
On the 7th of May 1908, died a good woman whose history deserves more than passing notice. Mrs. Mickey was born in Kentucky, like many of the first settlers of Jefferson County, almost 82 years ago, and when 22 years old was married to Bricen Mickey in Sangamon County, ILL. They had lived a happy wedded life of nearly 60 years, lacking less than 3 months. In 1862, in the darkest hour of the nation's history, Mr. Mickey responded to his country's call by enlisting in Co. C. 25th Iowa Infantry, leaving the care of five childdren to his wife for almost three years.....Interment in Lockridge cemetery.

Transcribed by Doris Challis from Jefferson County Records, Vol. 6. Not related to the subject.
