GLENDALE--Mr. Joseph Kirk, who came to this county in 1836, the year of its first white settlement, died near Lockridge on Thursday, June 6, and was buried at Lockridge on the 8th of June. Mr. Kirk's death leaves only one pioneer of the first year -- Mr. Ephriam Stout. Mr. Kirk was three years old when he came to the county, and married when he was 17 years of age. His first son was born when the father was 18, and it is probable that Mr. Kirk saw a greater number of descendants than anyone who has lived in this county.
