William Anthony Wagner (s/o Augustus Wagner and Elizabeth Anderson)was born in 1870 in Jasper Co. His first wife, Mary Elizabeth Brooks, died at the age of 21 in Kossuth Co. He returned to Jasper Co with his two young children and later married Mary Reynolds. One of the witnesses who was listed on the register of marriage of William Wagner to Mary Reynolds in Jasper Co was Jacob Houck. Family stories suggest that he and William were best friends. I am writing because we have a copy of a photograph which we believe to be a studio portrait of Jacob Houck. It appears to have been taken around the turn of the century (20th) at Susong and Baldwin Photograph ata 518 E. Locust St., Des Moines, IA.
We have found a record showing that Jacob and his wife Lilly M. are buried at Vandalia Cemetery, as are many of the Wagner's. I would like to pass this photo (copy) along to a descendant but I have been unable to locate anyone to date.
