August Toedt was born March 3, 1826 in Holzhausen, Lippe-Detmold, Germany. He died December 25, 1913 in Newton, Jasper County, Iowa. He Immigrated to USA in 1853. He married Johanna Readah about 1855 in Illinois.

August had a brother, Johann Heinrich Simon August Toedt. He was born November 13, 1823 in Holzhausen, Germany also. He Immigrated to USA in 1853. Johann married Dorothea Louise Henriette Pahl in March 1857 in Freeport, Illinois. Johann died November 9, 1904 in Jasper County, Iowa, and is buried in Saint John's Cemetery in Jasper County, Iowa.

August Toedt's son Charles C. Toedt was born October 29, 1860 in Freeport, Illinois, married Agnes Mary Brisel 16 October 1895 in Newton, Iowa. Charles died 2 May 1927 in Newton, Iowa and is buried in Saint John's Cemetery.
