EDWARD STANATON, AMANDA COWAN AND EVELINE UNKNOWN STANTON-WHITE

I am researching a Stanton family in Newton in 1870 all the family members are listed as Mulatto, with Amanda Cowan (listed on childs death) is the mother, by 1880 Edward Stanton (Mulatto) is married to Evaline Unknown of PA with a son named Frank, born about 1878 (1880 census) or 7 Dec 1880 WWI registration. Move to MN in 1888 and become white.
Where can I find information on "Black Families" in Jasper County???
