What happened to Sally (Dunkerley) Buckley?

I have researched and documented (with much help from this Iowa GenWeb site) the whereabouts of my ancestors R. S. and Sally (DUNKERLEY) BUCKLEY. They settled in Jasper County in ~1866. I see them in the 1870 census living in Fairview Township. On this site I found a biography of them in 1878. However, in 1880 R. S. (Robert) is living with a new wife, Margaret (maiden surname SCOTT), formerly the spouse of Joseph OLDHAM (d. 1876). Something happened between 1878 and 1880 (death, divorce, other?), but everywhere I have looked has turned up empty. If you have anything to share, please do so! I would love to solve this "mystery!"
