Hotel Colfax

NONE

I'm trying to do some further research on the Hotel Colfax (Colfax, Iowa). I recently
acquired an old metal token with the inscription: HOTEL / BATH / COLFAX.
I'm pretty certain it was used in Colfax Iowa.
I know that Colfax had several hotels during the time when the mineral baths were
popular, but only one Hotel Colfax. I have been searching for any info on James P
Donahue, prop. and builder, with not much luck.
Do you know or where I could find the dates of operation of this hotel. The article on
the Jasper County website is from 1912 so it obviously was in business before that. I found that the springs were discovered in 1875 and the hotel would have been built
sometime after that. But just when and for how long?
I have a couple of early D&B directories but none with the info I need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
