The 1880 census of Jasper Co., Palo Alto Twp., has a Rev. Daniel B. Mead, wife Lucy Jane, step-son Herbert/Bertie Allen, age 12, and step-grandson Samuel Allen, age 1 month.

Lucy Jane Mead was married first to Cyrus Allen and after he died, she married the Rev. Daniel Mead.
At that time they were living in Floyd Co., IA, and Rev. Mead was a Baptist minister.

Wanting to know how long they lived in Jasper Co., and where they went later. Records indicate that Lucy was buried beside her first husband in Floyd Co. 1888. What happened to Rev. Mead and the children? Who was the father of Samuel Allen?
