Hannah Smeltzer/Smelser (ca 1797 PA - possibly 1856 IA) moved to Iowa after the 1850 census with her daughter, Rachel Smeltzer Smith. In 1902 Rachel lived in Guthrie County (via her brother's obit), but tracing her back from there in the census, she seems to have been in Jasper County in 1860 and 1870. Does anyone have information that might place Hannah Smeltzer in Jasper county at the time of her death? I was told Hannah died on 29 Nov 1856 in Iowa, but we lack any sort of proof of this.
