Former Colfax resident dies

COLFAX - Funeral services for Mrs. Clarence A. (Lucille) Sheets of Quitman, Tex., a former resident of Colfax, were held today at Quitman. Burial was at Quitman.

She died Monday at the hospital in Tyler, Tex.

Survivors are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Ross Wilson from Gorman, Tex.; a brother William Milleneaux (sic) Jr. of Newton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Henry Mulleneaux and John Mulleneaux, and two sisters, Mrs. Victor V. Logsdon and Mrs. Harold Morris.

The daughter of William and Mary McWhirter Mulleneaux Sr., she was born Jan 16, 1901 in Colfax, was graduated from Colfax High School and the University of Iowa in Iowa City with a degree in education.

She was married in 1922.

The Sheets taught in schools in Mingo and Baxer and Mahaska and Keokuk Counties before moving to Macon, Ga. They resided there for a number of years until moving to Richardson, Tex., where they taught school until their retirement. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa, February 9, 1981.
