Duane N. Antle, 83, of 823 N. Third St. W. died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
A visitation with the family will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Westwood Golf Course, Hospice of Jasper County or Kellogg Historical Society.
The son of E. Jack and Shirley (English) Antle, he was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Newton. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1940. On Nov. 14, 1942, he married DeLoris Elaine Norton in Kellogg. He served in the U.S. Navy as a fireman 1st class during World War II. He later worked in sales for VanWyk Freight Lines and retired in 1990. He also was a manager of Merchants Storage and Garrett Motor Express. He was active in the transportation business all his life.
Mr. Antle was a member of EPO Elks Lodge No 1270 and served as a past exalted ruler during 1965 and 1966.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda D. Jackson of Kellogg; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Doc Antle.
