Josephine Frances Wilson, 103, of Newton, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Newton Health Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, with Father William Reynolds and Deacon Dan Goetz officiating. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will follow the services. In lieu of flowers: Memorials are being designated to; Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, in the Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City, IL.
Josephine, the daughter of Martin and Ellen Mooney, was born March 16, 1908, in Gibson City, IL. She was a graduate of the Villa De Chantal High School in Rock Island, IL, and received Illinois State Normal Teachers Training. She had taught school in Ford County, Illinois for several years.
On December 27, 1933, Josephine was united in marriage with John G. Wilson, who was the Jasper County, Iowa Soil Conservationist, in Gibson City. A longtime resident of the Newton area, she devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. She was a kind and warm hearted lady, who always found the good in everyone.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy, John Richard; her husband John; and four brothers.
Those left to honor Josephine's memory include her two daughters: Nancy (Phil) Bogna of Granada Hills, CA and Pat (C.L.) Leydens of Pella; her four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and her friends.
