BROOKLYN - Miriam L. Little, 77, of Brooklyn, formerly of Monroe, died Sunday, Aug. 17, at Brooklyn Community Estates in Brooklyn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn. Burial will be at Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established in her name.

The daughter of Freeman Egbert and Grace (Ostrom) Dayton, she was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Grinnell. Most of her childhood was spend in rural Brooklyn and Montezuma. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1943 and from William Penn College in 1973. On Feb. 14, 1950, she married Robert W. Little in Brooklyn. She taught in rural schools in Brooklyn and Hartwick.

Later she stayed at home to raise her children. In 1960, they moved to Monroe, where her husband was custodian of Monroe Schools. In 1962 she returned to work as a secretary. In 1968, they moved back to Brooklyn and Mrs. Little began teaching in Malcom and later in Brooklyn. She retired in 1987 from BGM schools. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grace UMW, BGMEA and ISEA.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Richard Hammer of Newton and Brenda and Dave Jermier of Dallas Center; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Vicki Little of Montezuma; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Earl Allen of Montezuma; and a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Anna Grace Dayton of Brooklyn.
