Maquoketa, Ia. – William Garrett, 81, formerly of Maquoketa, died Saturday at Colfax after a heart attack. His sister, Mrs. Amy Stickley, left Sunday to attend the services.
The oldest of a family of two sons and 11 daughters, he is the third to die in the past nine months, the others having been Mrs. Elsie Miller in July and Mrs. Kit Finch in December. Brothers and sisters surviving are Arthur Garrett, of Ames, Mrs. Kate Ward, of Ft. Smith, Ark., Mrs. Amanda Norris of Des Moines, and Mrs. Stickley, of Maquoketa.

Mr. and Mrs. John Garrett, accompanied by Mr. Wm. Garrett, Jr. of Adair were called to Colfax Sunday morning about one o’clock by the death of the men’s father, Wm. Garrett, Sr. who succumbed to a heart attack following several years of poor health due to heart trouble. John Garrett remained in Colfax, and Mrs. Garrett, and Mr. Wm. Garrett returned home Sunday night, returning Wednesday for the funeral services and burial made at Colfax.
