DES MOINES - Robert Lee Winegar, 81, of Des Moines died Friday, July 18, at Valley View Village in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe with Pastor Frank Cook of Union Park Baptist Church officiating. Burial was at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City with graveside services provided by Home Lodge.

Memorials will be accepted to American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association.

The son of Charles Edward and Gladys (Barrett) Winegar, he was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Prairie City. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1940. On June 15, 1946, he married Eleanor Jean Hansen in Des Moines. He was a retired Des Moines fireman and also worked at Freeman Decorating. He was a member of Home Lodge AF/AM in Pleasant Hill and a member of Local 67 lATE Union.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Jo Winegar Bettendorf and Larry and Peggy Winegar of Runnells; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Dean Sandquist of Carmel, Ind., Linda and Brian Wilkin of Overland Park, Kan., and Lois and Paul Nelson of Ankeny; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Dale Winegar of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister.
