George U. Davis, 94, of 315 N. 19th Ave. W. died of heart failure Sunday, June 1, at Careage of Newton in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. David Wendell of the First United Methodist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the First United Methodist or to Hospice Capital Campaign and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Ora and Eva May "Grace" (Quick) Davis, he was born Nov. 16, 1908, in Unionville, Mo. On Jan. 6, 1933, he married Wilma L. Illingworth in Milan, Mo. He was a farmer and a school bus driver. Mr. Davis was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau and Oak Ridge Grange. He was a resident of Newton for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Carols Heatherly of Sully and Mary Ann and Dennis Chambers of East Meadows, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, La Vern and Carol Davis of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Marilyn Neasbam, and three brothers, Wayne, Gerald and Boyd.
