Linda Marcene Schnell was born Apr. 4, 1942, to Adrianus “Jim” and Hendrika Johanna (Zegers) Van Weelden in Fifield. She passed away Dec. 7, 2021, at Park Centre in Newton.
Linda grew up in the Sully area and graduated from Sully High School with the Class of 1960. While there, she met Richard C. Schnell. The two were united in marriage Nov. 24, 1961, at Sully First Reformed Church. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Randy, Karlyn, and Mark. In addition to being a housewife, Linda worked for Hackert Sales and Service for 17 years.
Linda always loved music! She played piano for the glee club and for the church choir while she was in high school. She accompanied many singers, soloists, quartets, and choirs. Linda also played piano and organ for countless church services at Sully First Reformed Church. She also taught piano lessons for over 40 years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Richard; their children: Randy Schnell, Karlyn (Craig) Harthoorn, and Mark Schnell; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jim Van Weelden.
Memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 10, at Sully First Reformed Church. Memorials may be given to Sully First Reformed Church Music Fund.
