BAXTER – E. Ruth Rumbaugh, 84, of Baxter died Friday, May 16, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter with Pastor Gene Bucklin of Evangelical Free Church in Baxter officiating. Burial will be at Green Castle Cemetery in rural Mingo. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials will be accepted to the Evangelical Free Church and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the day of the service.

The daughter of James Thomas and Ollie Annis (White) Sharp, she was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Parnell, Mo. She graduated from Mingo High School in 1936 and on May 28, 1936, she married George W. Rumbaugh in Bondurant.

She was a homemaker and worked at the Vernon Company for 13 years. She lived in Mingo until moving to Baxter in 1988. She enjoyed oil painting and growing flowers. Mrs. Rumbaugh was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and a past member of the Baxter Garden Club.

Survivors include a son, George J. Rumbaugh of Baxter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy K. and Dean Fricke of Marshalltown and Sallie A. and Sandy Ballantine of Essex Junction, Vt.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and a brother.
