CEDAR FALLS — Clayton F. Emmert, 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Newton, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name or to Parkinson's Research.

The son of George P. and Ina O. (Lamb) Emmert, he was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Colfax. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1935.

On July 1, 1950, he married Lola W. Wilson in Newton. He worked for the Maytag Company and was a manager of the equipment and tooling department. He retired Jan. 31, 1984.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Maytag Management Club and Newton Wood Carving Club. He enjoyed wood working.

Survivors include two sons, Robert C. (DeAnn) Emmert of Waverly and Jon F. (Rebecca) Emmert of Pataria, Ill.; five grandchildren; a brother, Andy (Carlene) Emmert; a brother-in-law, Kenny (Jane) Davis of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, John, Alden and George Emmert; and a sister, Ina Davis.
