RALEIGH, N.C. – William E. Elliott, 75, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Newton, died Saturday, April 19, at Oakleaf Village Assisted living in Raleigh, N.C.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, N.C.

Visitation is scheduled for tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to the Covenant Church of Raleigh Building Fund, 12621 Strickland Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27613.

The son of Norma and Henry G. Elliott, he was born July 19, 1927, in Newton. He graduated from Newton Senior High School. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II and in the Korean War.

He married Betty Jean Crouse of Newton. Following the time spent in the service, he returned to Newton and began to work as a draftsman for the Maytag Company. He became an engineer in research and development. His last position with the Maytag Company was as vice president of labor relations. He was transferred to the Jenn-Air Company, as vice president of labor relations in Indianapolis, Ind. He worked for the Maytag Company for 43 years.

Mr. Elliott and his wife retired to Raleigh, N.C., to be near their family and grandchildren. He played golf and was a member of Croasdaile Country Club in Durham.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kristie Elliott; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Norma Lee and Don Bland of Colorado Springs, Colo., Francis and Kemp Prugh of Centerville, Ohio, and Helen Schneider of Exeter, N.H. and a brother, Ray Elliott of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
