COLFAX – Donna Mae Smith, 69, died Wednesday, March 12, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax with Pastors David McNeeley and Dan DuRocher officiating. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday after 2 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Donna Mae Smith Memorial Fund.

The daughter of Gail D. and Esther M. (Kern) Teed, she was born Feb. 15, 1934, in rural Jasper County. On Jan. 1, 1955, she married James E. Smith in Colfax. She was a lifetime resident of Colfax and was a cook for several years at Bob & Frankie’s in Mitchellville. Mrs. Smith enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and cooking.

Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Routh of Des Moines, Patricia Harrell of Tripoli and Elizabeth Smith of Mitchellville; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Connie Smith of Bondurant, Jerome Smith of Mingo, Andrew and Kristina Smith of Colfax and Anthony Smith of Newton; 24 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; five sisters, Helen Beard, Ruby Beard, Henrietta Nichols, Bonnie McCart and Dorothy Jones; and three brothers, Leland, Gail Jr. and Richard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter and two brothers, George and Ed.
