Funeral services for Richard Landmesser of Killduff were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Morgan Funeral home by Rev. Paul G. Bauer, pastor of the Kellogg Lutheran church. Interment was in the St. Andrew's cemetery.
Pall bearers were Charles Earp, Garrett Vander Werff, Charles Antle, Ira Ramer, Ed Rohrdanz and William Eichner.
Leonard James, accompanied by Nadine James, sang “Abide With Me” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.
Born in 1862
Richard Landmesser was born Jan. 25, 1862, and died April 10, 1941, having reached the age of 79 years, 2 months and 15 days. He was the third son of a family of ten children born to Nicholis and Louise Keller Landmesser of Elk Creek township, Jasper county.
Six of these children preceded Richard in death. They were Fred, who died in Kansas, Charles who resided in Canada, Isadore of Galesburg, Mrs. Nettie Teamen of Newton and two children in infancy.
Those surviving are Luther of Galesburg, Mrs. Effie Parker who has lived with her two brothers at the old home since the death of her husband, and Wright, who with Richard and his sister, Effie, cared for their parents throughout their lives.
Richard, familiarly called Penn, never married.
He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in early life.
Surviving besides his two brothers and a sister, are four nieces and nephews.
