KELLOGG - Mary Jane Lenz, 90, of Kellogg, died on Saturday, March 15, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Kellogg with the Rev. Morris Hurd, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery near Kellogg. Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be today from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Kellogg United Methodist Church or to Grinnell Regional Hospice.

The daughter of W. S. "Swade" and Hannah (Anderson) Shill, she was born Jan. 4, 1913, in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school before graduating from Kellogg High School. Following her education, she worked as a secretary for Midwest Stamping Company and the One Minute Washing Machine Company.

On Feb. 27, 1937, she married Louis Lenz in Kellogg. The couple farmed north of Kellogg and in 1966, they moved into Kellogg to make their home. She was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, where she was an organist and involved with the WSCS. She also was a member of the Kellogg Garden Club, the Kellogg Historical Society and the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include two sons, Dwight Lenz and Dale Lenz, both of Kellogg; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Leonard Shill.
