MITCHELLVILLE – Les Crawford, 73, of Mitchellville, died of cancer Tuesday, March 18, in Tempe, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Gardens. Masonic services and family visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton's near Highland Memorial Gardens in Des Moines, with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Mr. Crawford was born in Belle Plaine and lived in Newton before moving to Mitchellville. He graduated from Des Moines Business College and worked as a supervisor for the Maytag Company. He retired as a private manufacturer consultant.

Mr. Crawford was a retired Lt. Colonel from the United States Army National Guard. He was a member of Newton Masonic Lodge No. 59 and the Mitchellville American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Betty; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Rene Crawford, David and Deborah Crawford, Bryan and Cheryl Crawford; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Michael Barry, Linda and Steven Adams, Julie and Jeffrey Moore, and Angela and Michael Trier; 23 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
