Virginia Ann Woody (Schnug), age 88, of Monroe, Iowa, passed away on January 8, 2024. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Monroe United Methodist Church from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Monroe United Methodist Church starting at 11:00 AM. Directly following the memorial service, a lunch will be held at the church, and all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the Monroe United Methodist Church or the Monroe Fire Department. Online condolences may be left at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Eldred and Grace (Terpstra) Schnug, Virginia was born on August 7, 1935, in State Center, Iowa. Virginia graduated from Monroe High School in 1953. She married Dean Woody on December 2, 1955, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Virginia was deeply involved in the church, spending many years as the secretary. In her spare time, she loved playing cards, watching hummingbirds, spending time with her dogs, and most of all, being around her grandchildren.

Those left to honor Virginia’s memory include her children; Brian (Khristi) Woody and Brenda Woody, her grandchildren; Kaylee (Bryan) Ford and Jacob Woody, her brother; Bob (Marcia) Schnug, a brother-in-law; Monte Oldham, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Virginia in death were her parents, her husband; Dean in 2011, and her sister; Sherrill Oldham.
