Well Known Woman Died At Son’s Home
Katharine Susanna Enabnit, daughter of Crist and Katharine Enabnit was born in Berne, Switzerland January 7, 1862 and quietly passed away at the home of her son, Walter Geisler April 23, 1946 at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 16 days.
She came with her parents to America when she was a year old. They went to Ashville, Ohio to live. The after five years they came to Polk County, Iowa, and settled on a farm 18 miles north of Des Moines. Here she attended the public school and grew to womanhood.
She was united in marriage to John E. Geisler March 12th, 1885. Seven children came to bless their home, four boys and three girls, Rosa, Fred, John, Louis, Walter, Emma and Viola.
Mr. and Mrs. Geisler spent their active years on the home farm one and one half miles west of Mingo, Iowa. Later they moved to town. Mrs. Geisler was a resident of the community for 61 years. Mr. Geisler passed away December 23, 1934.
Mrs. Geisler was converted and united with the church in her early youth. She was a member of the Evangelical Church for 61 years; but her interest was larger than one denomination. She was interested in kingdom building everywhere. For 25 years she and her husband supported an orphan in India. She was Cradle Roll Superintendent for a number of years of her home church and took an active interest in the children of the community.
She maintained a Christian home, dominated by a spirit of prayer, where the welfare of her husband and children held first place. She loved the good and beautiful in life and was a valiant Christian.
Mrs. Geisler was a good neighbor, if she knew of any one in need she sought an opportunity to help them carry their burdens.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her seven children, Mrs. Rosa Jones of Sheffield, Iowa, Fred Geisler, John Geisler of Mingo, Ia., Louis Geisler of Bondurant, Iowa, Walter Geisler of Maxwell, Iowa, Mrs. Emma Hay of Farrar, Iowa and Mrs. Viola Lozier of Hollywood, California. Three brothers, Fred Enabnit of Marble Rock, Iowa, Crist Enabnit of Des Moines, Iowa, William Enabnit of Long Beach, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Geisler of Valley City, North Dakota and Mrs. Louise Kolb of Meservey, Iowa, 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren besides many other relatives and friends also survive.
