Hill, Maeola Conner - 1887-1942

Mae Ola Conner, daughter of John and Ellen Conner, was born Feb. 12, 1887, at Quinter, Kans., and passed away at her home west of Indianola Ia., Wednesday evening, March 13, at the age of 55 years and 28 days.
When a small child, Mrs. Hill moved with her parents to a farm near Mingo, Ia., On July 12, 1909, she was united in marriage to Charley Hill and they moved to a farm near Farrar, Ia. To this union were born 10 children, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Bonney and Mrs. Grace Weeks, and eight sons, Clark, Charles jr., Raymond, John, Wendell and Max. Cecil Wayne and Clarence, both preceded her in death.
In 1917 Mr. and Mrs. Hill moved to Madison county and after two years came to Warren county where they were still living at the time of Mrs. Hll’s death.
Mrs. Hill was converted in a meeting held by the Rev. N. D. Gordon at Medford and she and her husband united with the Medford Methodist church. Her life as a Christian was sincere. She was a dutiful wife and a loving mother and had a warm heart for all of her friends. She has gone to her eternal home but the high ideals she cherished will live in the hearts of her family and her friends.
Besides her immediate family, Mrs. Hill leaves to mourn her passing three grandchildren, Wayne, Shirley and Richard Weeks; one sister, Erma Conner; three brothers, Clinton of Grand Junction, Colo., Asa and Tim of Maxwell, Ia., and a great number of other relatives and friends. Her father and mother and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. N. D. Gordon at the Orr Funeral Home Saturday, March 14, at 1:30 p.m.. with interment in the Graham cemetery.

According to her son Clark, Maeola was born in Quinter, Gove County, Kansas to John Conner and Ellen C. Lint in January of 1887.¹ She was known as Nell during her early life. In 1909, on July 12, she married Charles Martin Hill in Washington Township, Polk County, Iowa. She died in 1942 at the age of 55.
