Mrs. John K. Graham Dies At Home Of Daughter, Mrs. Gifford
Mrs. John K. Graham, who would have been 86 years old today, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. L. Gifford, 1145 K Avenue, Nevada, Saturday at 2:30 p. m.
Mr. and Mrs. Graham had come to Nevada from their home in Maxwell, the first of the year. Her health had been failing for the past year.
Funeral rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Methodist church in Maxwell, of which she was a member, in charge of Rev. Turner of Maxwell, assisted by Rev. E. O. Cooley of the Methodist church of Nevada. Burial will follow at the Graham cemetery near Mingo.
She leaves besides her husband of 58 years, the son George W. Graham of Lisbon, Iowa, and the daughter, Mrs. Gifford of Nevada. One daughter Winifred Graham died about 4 years ago.
She also leaves 3 grandchildren, they being Celeste Gifford of Nevada, a grandson Tech. Sgt. Ralph Graham, now stationed in a camp at Chicopee Falls, Mass., and Mrs. James Gardner of Newton, also a great-grandchild, Leota Gardner of Newton.
She was born at Ansonia, Ohio, 86 years ago today, came out to Iowa with her people sixty years ago and settled near Mingo and was married to John K. Graham, in 1884. Twenty-four years ago, they left the farm near Mingo and located in Maxwell where their home has been since.
She was a longtime and active member of the Methodist church and was a woman of fine characteristics and held in high regard by all who enjoyed her acquaintance.
