Services Sunday For Arthur L. Skinner
Services for Arthur Skinner were held Sunday, April 6, at 2:30 p. m. from the Ashton Chapel with Rev. A. T. Washington officiating. Burial was in the Ashton cemetery.
The many floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Lloyd Jensen and Mrs. Leslie Knudson.
Honorary bearers were: Jim Porter, Thomas Hall, Lloyd Jensen, Homer Thomas, Carlton Tichenor and George Backous.
Active bearers were: Paul Borts, Charles Skinner, Lyle Skinner, Keith Eubank, Dwight Eubank and Howard Smith.
Mrs. Dale Harter accompanied Mrs. John Cleverly in the “Lord’s Prayer,” “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” and “Beyond the Sunset”.
Obituary
Arthur Lloyd Skinner, son of Herbert K. and Mary A. Skinner, was born on a farm near Mingo, Iowa, December 6, 1892. He departed from this life at the Story County hospital on April 4, 1952 at the age of 59 years, three months and 28 days. He grew to manhood in the Ashton community.
He was united in marriage to Gladys E. Parker on January 21, 1914. They established their home on a farm near the Ashton church and they resided in and near this community their entire life.
To this union was born four children, Howard of Nevada; Dorothy, now Mrs. Darl Hunerdosse of Indianola; and Walter and Dale who preceded their father in death.
Arthur was of a kindly disposition always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a member of the Ashton church.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys E. of Nevada; one son Howard, and a daughter, Mrs. Darl Hunerdosse, four grandchildren, Marla Kay and Jimmy Skinner and Carol and Catherine Hunerdosse; also three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Borts of Mingo, Mrs Clara Tiffany of Collins and Mrs Lena Eubank of Nevada, and a host of other relatives and friends.
