Bart, the son of Louis Paul and Lucille “Betty” (Van Baale) Huetter was born on May 23, 1939, in Davenport. He grew up in Calamus and at the age of 16, with the passing of his father, he moved with his mom and siblings to Monroe, where he attended high school until the 11th grade. In August of 1958, he attended the Prairie City Old Settlers where he met the love of his life, Diane Miller. They were united in marriage on February 21, 1959, at the Baptist Church in Monroe and enjoyed 58 years of love together.

During his lifetime Bart had many different jobs before taking the faithful leap in purchasing a grocery store in Monroe, which many of you may remember as Bart’s Super Valu. His customers were important to him, as he always went out of his way to help those in need, deliver groceries to the elderly, or to simply open the store on a holiday for those who had forgotten something. He loved to joke around and always had a story to tell.

Family was very important to Bart. Over the years he enjoyed camping, the state fair, Sunday drives to the lake, his garden, going to the races, and he loved his yearly trips to Estes Park, Colorado. Bart belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, Monroe Kiwanis, the Moose Lodge, and the Corvette Club.

Bart is survived by his children: Mark Huetter of Newton, Marcia (Tom) Bell of Inverness, FL, Matthew (Nikki) Huetter of Norwalk; his grandchildren, Jacob and Anna Huetter both of Norwalk; his step-granddaughter, Kendra (Jerad) Egge of Parker, CO; siblings: Kathy Grimes, Susan Huetter, and John (Diane) Huetter all of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

Those who preceded him in death are his wife in 2016; parents; stepfather, Clifford Snook; and brother, David Huetter.
