Ex-Mayor Jas. Boyle Is Found Dead
Passed Away in the Hay Mow of His Barn on Wednesday. Heart Trouble the Immediate Cause
Ex-Mayor James Boyle was found dead in the hay mow of his barn at his home about 1 o’clock Wednesday.
Mr. Boyle had gone to the barn shortly before noon, and when he did not come to dinner at 12 o'clock Mrs. Boyle decided that he had gone to the pasture after a horse. After waiting for some time she decided to go to the barn and call him for dinner. Receiving no response to repeated calls she began an investigation, which resulted in finding the lifeless body of her husband in the hay mow. His health had not been good for some time. He suffered from heart trouble, which is believed to have been the direct cause of death.
The county coroner was notified and reached Kellogg about 2 o’clock, but after viewing the body and learning the facts regarding his death did not deem it necessary to hold an inquest.
James Boyle was one of the pioneer citizens of Kellogg and a man who was well and favorably known to a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
For more than thirty years he was section foreman on the Rock Island Railway; was thrice elected to the office of mayor of Kellogg and served for a number of years as a member of the town council. He was for many years a member of the masonic fraternity.
He is survived by his wife, three sons: Earl, Charles and Harry, and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Stuart.
Funeral services will be held at the home this (Friday) p.m. at 2:30 o’clock.
