Enoch Rogers Killed In Des Moines Sunday
Former Resident of Colfax and At One Time Employed In Mines
Enoch Rogers, 61, of Des Moines, was struck and instantly killed by an automobile on the pavement north of Des Moines near the County Poor Farm, Sunday night. W. Tolbertson of Story City was the driver of the car, but claims he did not see Mr. Rogers, who was walking on the pavement, until it was too late to avoid the accident. No inquest has been held yet.
Mr. Rogers was a native of England and lived at Colfax for many years, going to Des Moines about eight years ago, where he has since made his home.
While at Colfax he was employed in the local coal mines.
Two sons survive, George Rogers of Newton and William of Des Moines. The wife and mother passed away several years ago.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., from the Christian Church, with Rev. J. W. Taenzelar officiating. Interment will be made beside his wife at McKeever cemetery.
